Говоря о будущих авиакомплексах, главком ВВС сообщил, что в 2017 году в России начнутся научно-исследовательские работы по созданию перспективного авиационного комплекса дальнего перехвата, который призван прийти на замену истребителя-перехватчика МиГ-31. В рамках ОКР будет определён его облик. В соответствии с планами в ВВС он поступит не ранее 2025 года.
Что касается перспективного авиационного комплекса Дальней авиации, то, по словам генерал-полковника Виктора Бондарева, он совершит первый полёт в ходе заводских испытаний в 2019 году. А уже спустя два года его будут ждать в войсках. В основе идеологии ПАК ДА лежит высокая боевая мощь наряду с уникальной способностью преодолевать противовоздушную оборону противника. Этот самолёт будет иметь новейший комплекс радиоэлектронной борьбы и обладать высокоточным оружием.
